    Hello,

Sorry that I write in English, but I moved to Netherlands only couple a months ago.
I am very keen orienteer and I have tried to find information about orienteering in the Hague region, but haven't been very successful.
Is here any orienteer from the Hague region whom I could contact and ask more questions about orienteering/adventure races (trainigs, competitions, etc.) around Den Haag?
    Thank you!

    Hello Marit!

First of all, welcome in The Netherlands!
Orienteering in our country is organised by different clubs, that all "have" their own region. The area around the Hague is part of UZO-terrain. {UZO is the name of the club that organises competitions in the provinces Utrecht and ZuidHolland, in the latter The Hague is the major city).
Unfortunately, their is little forrested area that is allowed for orienteering. There's only 1 terrain that we use, which is the area between The Hague and Wassenaar. Most UZO-competitions are held in the centre of the country, near Amersfoort.

As our country is not so large and the number of people involved rather small (some 75 are really active), we meet each other all over the place. We work together in one council, called NOLB.
There's also more accessible terrain with competition in the north (near Meppel), in the centre (near Harderwijk and Arnhem) and the 2 clubs in the south. Look for more info at [http://www.nolb.nl/] and entry for competitions at [http://www.nolb.nl/index.php?option=com_eventlist&view=eventlist&Itemid=98].
Contact for more info is usually made through this forum. Have fun in our forests!

    Hello Marit,

The Hague has the most beautifull orienteering terrain of the Netherlands. There are 3 difficult orienteering maps of the terrain "Waalsdorpervlakte" "Uilenbosch" and "Meijendel" very technical terrain with all kinds vegatation, many small and bigger hills with beautifull views over the Hague. And there is a number of old maps of several parks. Unfortunetely we are not allowed to do competitions in all terrains but we do train. There are some good orienteerers in the Hague, mainly foreigners. I can get you in contact with them. I live also in the Hague with my boyfriend. We are enthousiastic orienteerers but we like to focus on international events during holidays. We have organised an international 3-day event here in the Hague in 2005. This spring we might start a training group in the Hague again if there are enough people. So just give us your email and/or number and we can contact you aswell.
